The Season of the Witch is upon us, we have gathered our potions and urge you to join our coven!

I seriously need some good juju, so I'm actively looking for what kind of rocks and crystals I should have around the shop!

In the meantime, I'm hoping that the spells of these wines protect me. 

Mastroberardino Falanghina del Sannio- The Mastroberardino family are largely responsible for the revival and elevation of Campanian winemaking post WWII. Their Falanghina shows ripe pineapple, honeysuckle and toasted almond notes.  

Big Salt Orange Rose-Low intervention winemaking in Oregon solely producing white wines that focus on terroir and attention to detail. Sunset colored and exuberant with citrus, tropical fruits and a hint of sea spray. 

Fattoria le Pupille Morellino di Scansano-As a young owner Elisabetta Geppetti decided to become personally responsible for her small vineyard with one clear goal: to make great wines with her five hectares of vines. Ruby red cherries and integrated tannins, juicy and bright acidPoggio al Tesoro Mediterra Toscana-Marilisa and her daughters  have been running the winery in Bolgheri since 2001. Focused on combining tradition and new perspectives, they keep alive the connection between land and wine. This red reveals all of the scents of the Mediterranean scrub, a hint of saltiness and sun kissed fruit. 

Chapoutier La Ciboise Luberon-With roots dating back to 1808, Chapoutier is one of the oldest wineries in the Rhone Valley. But it was Michel Chapoutier that their renown can be credited to. Biodynamic since his arrival in 1990, the wines reflect the full potential of the terroir. Intense blackcurrant and raspberry with soft spices, ripe and full bodied. 

Waka No Megumi Ume-Established in 1884, family owned and operated in a town renowned for its locally grown Ume called Nanko Ume. Sweet in the beginning, then rich in the middle, finishing with racy acidity to cleanse the palate. This is ripe for a fall spritz situation. 

We have a guest speaker for a Map Series on the Dolomites!

While we normally charge for these map series, this came up quickly as a great opportunity to collaborate with them and we wanted to offer it as a special no cost event, so if you've ever been curious about these map series its your time to come!

Join us and Alex Durfee of Oliver Mccrum.

Oliver McCrum Wine and Spirits is a specialist importer of Italian wine, based in Berkeley, CA. They've focused on exploring and promoting the native grapes of Italy since 1994, with an emphasis on small, family-owned wineries. They represent 19 of Italy's 20 regions, as well as a complete range of style and price, from delicious everyday sippers to some of the country's best wineries and wines. This evening's 'Dolomite Wines' selection includes some of their longest relationships, going back to their origins in the '90s, as well as some new and exciting additions to their portfolio. 

Alex Durfee is the National Sales Manager for Oliver McCrum, and has been working for Oliver since 2018. He grew up in the Napa Valley with two French Laundry chefs for parents, so food, wine, and hospitality are in his blood. Alex spends much of his time traveling to around the US, tasting and teaching about Italian wine with anyone that will listen, and his trips to tonight's featured wineries are among his favorite memories from his time in Italy. When he's not on the road, you can find Alex at home in San Diego, enjoying fish tacos and a crisp white on the beach.

Using remnants of wine shop delivery packaging, create abstract, 3-dimensional collages with depth and color pop at Violet! Pre-painted pieces will be made available so you can jump right into composing, and you’ll also be able to paint pieces of your own in your desired color palette. Be ready to get a little messy while sampling up to 3 shop favorite wines, with NA options available as well. All materials and tools will be provided!

Sparkling wine is a gift from the gods.

At Violet we drink bubbly frequently. We don't wait for anniversaries and job promotions for this kind of thing, although we would never, ever object if someone offered us a glass in celebration.
